Soline bay, a great place for an active sailing holiday!
Chartering a yacht with chartercroatia.net, and Sailing Croatia offers a visit to numerous beautiful bays, ports, and beaches. Soline bay is one of those beautiful bays located in the northern part of the Dalmatian Island Hvar, just outside the town of Vrbovska. The beautiful Soline is actually a peninsula opening to the north and south side of the island, acting like a natural breakwater, and offering a shelter from the wind. This is a bay for those who desire an activity rich holiday, as it offers plenty of water sport rentals.
Soline consists of two bays, one open to the north, and one on the inside, southern side of a peninsula, a calm bay, partially opened only to the East/Northeast. The southern part is most often referred to as Soline.
This bay is also a camp, and offers numerous activities. There’s a restaurant and a café on the pebble covered beach, where you can try some of the Mediterranean specialties. The inside (southern part) of Soline, offers an inflatable water park, and jet-ski , canoe rental.
Essentially, this part of Soline is the part you want to drop anchor in, as it shelters from mostly all winds, accept Bura, a NE wind, which is rarely a problem in the summer time. However, with the forecast of strong NE winds, we recommend staying in Soline only at daytime, and at night you can find shelter in the nearby Vrbovska, Jelsa or Stari Grad.
The northern bay, which is located on the otherside of the peninsula, and only a 2 minute walk from the southern part, offers a bit more secluded area, with flat stones and beautiful clear sea. This part of the bay overlooks the small island of Zecevo, which is a great place to visit, available only by boat. There’s a windsurf school/ rental in the bay, and a great place for the Adrenaline junkies to learn this great sport! Close to the bay is a nature/nudist camp.
While In the area we also strongly recommend visiting the nearby towns of Stari Grad, Vrbovska, and Jelsa, as well as Grebisce, and Zukova bay.
